Plain Language 2.0: Clarity with Style

Good writing is compelling. It is clear, and it has pizzazz.

Good writing turns heads, shapes minds, and encourages action.

The thing is, good writing is hard. It truly takes practice to say what you mean. And even more practice to say it in style.

Writers and all kinds of thinkers and public speakers have been at it for thousands of years. As the world changes and language adapts (think Latin to Old English to Modern English), purists often miss the memo and hang on to obsolete ways.

Alas, the biggest obstacle to compelling communication does not come from obstinate antiquated writers but from ignorant ones.

They neglect the very tool that allows us to communicate ideas successfully, the best sharing app ever invented: grammar rules! Not the dictatorial kind, but the traffic control kind that keep you moving forward and allow you to figure out who did what to whom in a sentence, or to keep the suspense when needed.

Plain Language promotes understanding through simplicity. Plain Language 2.0 promotes understanding through elegance: graceful and stylish simplicity that gets your point across and engages the reader.
